Current TVs new show Embedded follows Mos Def for seven days while on tour in Japan. While touring Japan, Mos experiences many of the joys I miss about Japan, such as the fashion spots in Shibuya and Harajuku. With the exception of a few brands, almost everything can be found stateside, but the experience is bar none. The Japanese seem to genuinely show a heighten sense of appreciation for their “distractions” versus Americans and thus obtain a greater deal of enjoyment from them. After visiting Japan and receiving some acclaim within the fashion districts, I too, felt an overwhelming sense of appreciation for a culture that didn't understand many of the slang and references L&D uses within its garments, yet still idolize the brand's intentions, its influence and thus its impact.

Peep Mos as he arrives at a similar conclusion after copping a meeaannn leather studded jacket, hitting a sumo match and  performing to soldout crowds.

As a design enthusiast I typical scour the net geeking out on vintage movie posters from Poland, 90's NIke posters, album art, canadian license plates(im getting more weird truthfully.smh!) and of course magazine covers! I have collected all the Complex magazine covers from 2003- 08. I stopped this year. The internet just moves too fast. But before there was an internet to log onto, Esquire Magazine was a tour de force in publishing and their 80 years of documenting pop culture proves it. They recently launched a feature on their site with the option to view all their covers by year. Naturally, I chose L&D's year 1992!! Peep a few gems from 1992, which documents everything from race relations in America to the original latch key child, Macaulay Culkin.
