TOP 7: UNNECESSARILY GANGSTER LYRICS

Info

B.I.G.: “I hope you're listening/ slapping babies at their christening.”

L&D: But Big, the babies are just tryna get on the right track. How they got dragged in the beef??

Jay-Z: “And then we comin' where your wake at/ Eight maniac cats strapped with gats.”

L&D: But Jay, the man is obviously already dead. Why do you need an entire team of armed men at the funeral???

Cassidy: “Drag you down the steps, heat to your ribs/ choke each your seeds with the sheets from their beds.”

L&D: But Cassidy, you're already going to kill my kids in front of me, why use their sheets??? Why make Dora explore homicide???

Cam'ron: “My mother found my crack platter/ threw it away so I snapped at her/ back slapped her.”

L&D: But Cam, your mother was just trying to be a mother. Did you really have to pimp smack her???

Fabolous: “I was O.T. at 12/ Given a half at 6, an oz at 12/ Ain't nobody come near the minor/ that was runnin' spots in both North and South Carolina”

L&D: But Fab, it's enough to fabricate drug kingpin status as an adult. Do you really expect us to believe you were the cross-country Noreiga of the Pre-schools too???

Prodigy of Mobb Deep: “I throw a TV at you crazy/ B****es be like P you crazy”

L&D: But Prodigy, we understand you're not feeling somebody. Isn't throwing electronics still a bit excessive???

G-Dep: “Bang this in ya stereo/ MC's is dead and Imma get head up at they burial”

L&D: But G. Dep, it's enough to attend the funeral of someone you obviously don't care for. Must you really get fellatio in front of the choir???

These are the lyrics we just found to be so gangster it was humorous. If you have any others, put us on and we'll include them in our next list.

GANGSTA REVIEW: PUBLIC ENEMIES

Info

Okay so over the weekend I saw Johnny Depp's new flick Public Enemies that was based on the life story of the famous bank robber John Dillinger. There was alot of action, a moving story, some great historical gems and a performance by Johnny Depp that was so excellent, you just want the villian to win. John Dillinger was so commintted to his criminal enterprise. You know you're a problem when the president shouts you out by saying that you are making a mockery of the criminal justice system and the government has to set up a federal police agency (how the FEDS got started) on your behalf. Check out the trailer under the hood.

GANGSTA BOOGIE: BOOGIE TO THE FLOOR

Info

There's a time and a place for everything they say, but the streets would disagree. The streets would say that if you're gangsta, then you should be gangsta all the time. And while we agree because we love consistency, we would still opine that you shouldn't wear your blood rag to the office potluck for example, or recite Camron lyrics to your grandmother persay or … or crip walk on a treadmill. Speaking of crip walking on a treadmill, here's what happens when Keeping it real goes wrong.

MUSEUM TRIP: MARTHA COOPER

Info

If you can't wear the colloquialism of “80's baby”, then it's possible that you wouldn't know what all the hoopla about breakdancing, graffiti and turn-table DJ-ing was all about. Thankfully for you millennials we've built a time capsule of that era. No we didn't build it collectively or else it would have retainers, footsie pajamas and jherri curl activator in it. Mine might even have the condom my parents had just thrown away because I was only just being born. But luckily, I'm not apart of that We who built the time capsule.

One of it's chief contributors though, is a woman named Martha Cooper who chronicled the graffiti culture of that time. Her work has been featured in both National Geographic and the Smithsonian but Ms Cooper shows no signs of slowing down. She still journals the journeys of these cities via film, but our favorite moments of hers happen to be some of our favorite moments of ours … when she takes us back to when hip-hop was just starting to crawl like Keith Harings' Radiant Baby.
